The U-Pb and Pb-Pb spot dating is a revolution of geochronology.
The datings by these methods break records of the oldest rock of the world.
With help of SHRIMP, the gneiss collected from Akasta, Northwest Territory
of Canada, indicated age of 3965 Ma. A later study of the same rock using
LAICPMS determined an older age, approximately 4200Ma.
At present, this is the oldest rock age.
